| What are Giclee Prints ? |
| Giclee (pronounced
"ghee-clay") is a French word meaning "to spray" and in this
case refers to a particular printing technique born in the early 1990's. It is becoming
widely acknowledged that Giclee prints offer richness, detail and depth that set them
apart from traditional offset lithography. |
|
| Do you use an Iris
Machine ? |
| Yes, we use an Iris printer for
all Giclee type prints |
|
| What are Lambda Prints ? |
| Lambda printing refers to a
printing process which directly exposes images/artwork on to photographic material using
laser imaging and is currently regarded as one of the best large format digital printers.
Unlike Inkjet printers, the Lambda produces a continuous tone (no dots) with very smooth
transitions from one colour to another. |
|
| What are C-Type Prints ? |
| Artfabber C-Type prints are
produced by printers using three-laser technology on to photographic material - Fuji
Crystal Archive Paper. The resulting photographic images are true continuous tone
photographs without visible dots. |
|
| What sizes are available
? |
| Most ArtFabber works are
quite large pieces, the standard size being 48" x 48" inches. However we do also
sell a range of smaller and larger sizes |
|
| What materials do we use
? |
| ArtFabber works are available on
310 gsm acid free Hahnemuhle Watercolour paper or Fuji Crystal Archive Photographic paper
( matte and gloss ) |
|
| What is the longevity of
the prints ? |
| ArtFabber works are printed using
UV pigments and under typical home or office conditions, have a longevity of approx. 60 -
100 years. We recommend that ArtFabber 'prints' are cared for in the same way as you would
care for any original painting. They should not be placed in direct sunlight or too close
to artificial light sources and should preferably be frame mounted behind glass. UV resistant glass is recommended as it will block out harmful UV rays.
When framing your print, leave an air gap between the glass and the print to avoid pockets
of humidity developing which can cause damage to the surface of your print. Water colour
and photographic papers are sensitive to acidity levels in materials such as mount boards,
framing tapes and other framing materials. Please ensure that your framer uses the best
quality acid free framing and mount materials to guarantee the longevity and quality of
your print. |
|
| Are the prints framed ? |
| Due to the large size of most of
the prints and international delivery, we do not include framing |
|
| Authenticity of ArtFabber
artworks |
| Each artwork is approved by the
artist and then stamped, numbered and initialed by the ArtFabber curator. |
|
| How can I be sure that
there will not be future print runs of the artwork I purchase ? |
| All ArtFabber artworks are
guaranteed Limited Editions. We have a strict policy of never producing additional print
runs. If we state that a particular print is a Limited Edition of 1 then you can be sure
that you are purchasing a unique and original piece of art. |
